What are the expectations for participating in the TMPE?
The Trademark Professionals’ Exchange is an email-based discussion platform for trademark and IP professionals, including attorneys, paralegals and legal support staff. The TMPE is a place for respectful conversation, helpful resources, and community bonding. Solicitations, pitches, and trolling are strictly prohibited. Posting mean, rude, discriminatory, intolerant, or otherwise disrespectful comments may result in your being removed from this group. Together we'll make TMPE a space where the trademark community can thrive.
How did the TMPE start?
In 2022, Alt Legal founder and CEO Nehal Madhani and Head of Education and Community Bri Van Til launched the Trademark Administrators’ Exchange (TMAE) as a dedicated community and resource hub for trademark paralegals and administrators. The goal was to create a close-knit, supportive space where TMAs could connect, learn, and grow together.
Over time, trademark attorneys consistently expressed interest in joining the Exchange with the goal of being part of the same collaborative and inclusive community. In response to this growing demand, we created the TMPE to welcome attorneys alongside administrators and paralegals.
Our vision is for the TMPE to foster a vibrant, welcoming environment where the entire trademark community—regardless of role or experience—can share insights, support one another, and continue learning together.
No. The TMPE is strictly moderated, and solicitation is not allowed. If someone else asks for professionals in your region or with your specific expertise, you are welcome to respond to the individual or the group to offer your services. However, keep the post simple and short, and avoid sending a sales pitch.
Can I post about my services on the TMPE?
I’m hosting an event. Can I post about that on the TMPE?
You are welcome to post once about an event that’s relevant for our audience of trademark professionals. If your event is aimed at the general public or clients, however, it is not relevant to the TMPE and will not be approved.
What other resources would you recommend for trademark professionals?
In addition to the TMPE, there are tons of helpful and free trademark and IP resources in Alt Legal’s Resource Library. Organized by topic, the Library includes webinar and session recordings as well as informative articles written by the Alt Legal team and trademark professionals from around the globe. If you’re just getting started with trademarks, we also have completely free beginner resources, including our Introduction to USPTO Trademark Prosecution ebook and the Alt Legal Trademark Paralegal Course.
